How to Verify Ordinals inside of an Emblem Vault

Step 1: Find the Ordinal inscription of the one you want to purchase on the Ordinals website or any of the Ordinal Directories.

In this example, Taproot Punk #57 (Inscription 52018)

Step 2: Review the “address” that is displayed on the Ordinals Explorer.

Step 3: Go to the Opensea listing of the Ordinal that you want to purchase.

Step 4: Confirm that you are on the legitimate Emblem Vault collection by scrolling over the “Emblem Vault” link.

The pop-up should show a volume of more than 40,000 ETH with 35,000 items.

🚨🚨🚨 This is a 100% critical step, as fraudulent Emblem Vault collections exist and are created by bad actors.

Step 5: Click the “More” button in the top right-hand corner of the page. Then click “View website”. This will open a new tab in your browser.

Step 6: In the new tab, scroll down and click the wallet address for “Taproot”.

Step 7: Once you click the button, a pop-up will reveal the Bitcoin wallet address contained within the Emblem Vault.

Step 8: Now compare both wallet address that display on Ordinals.com and inside of the Emblem Vault. If they match, congratulations. That Emblem Vault holds the Ordinal you want to buy!

Congrats! You have successfully verified the authenticity of the Ordinal inside of the vault.

NOTE: Taproot support was implemented on February 23rd, 2023. Prior to this date any vaulted Ordinal was sent to the “BTC/XCP/OMNI” address inside of any Emblem Vault. Verification of BTC addresses is still very important and relevant. Even with a different standard of wallet.

YOU MUST STILL ENSURE VERIFICATION.

If you are unsure then please review this twitter thread by Adam McBride. Assets are safe.

IMPORTANT: The difference is that with Taproot you will not be required to run a BTC Full node when you decide to Unlock your vault and import your Ordinals into another Bitcoin wallet.

Currently all “BTC/XCP/OMNI” addresses will need to import their private keys into Ord Wallet + Run a Full BTC Node. You can import into sparrow but are presented with the risk that your Ordinal can be spent as a miner fee.
