I have some exciting news, I have been thinking quite a bit about how someone will use an emblem and have thought for a while that the ability to break apart an Emblem Vault in some way that it isn’t fully claimed will be necessary. This capability is one that has seemed difficult to achieve given the mechanics of the emblem creation process. And then it hit me.
We could essentially split an emblem into pieces or shards, each shard containing a single token key and address. These shards could be reassembled with other shards into a new Emblem Vault. This process will enable some more versatile use cases without requiring users to claim a vault fully or having to move the enclosed assets on their respective native blockchains.
One example is the case of an Emblem containing one BTC key and address, being the shard of a previously split Emblem. This Emblem can be re-sharded by a new owner, and this can go on ad infinitum, from owner to owner, while nothing moves on the BTC chain. I will leave it to your fertile minds to discover new applications based solely on this example. Now, on to the updates.
In an effort to strike a balance between our desire for officially supported and hardened services and the more experimental, iterative development that the community is familiar with we have decided to have 2 release paths. An official release channel for solid, hardened services and a community channel for the more experimental stuff.
The EPS is the keystone of Emblem facilitating the creation, transfer and opening of Emblem Vaults. These core services will be lightweight, audit-able and heavily reviewed. These services will be the basis of most products utilizing the Emblem Platform. EPS is being developed in a way that will enable anyone to build new systems or integrate with existing systems.
Our aim is to strategically partner with businesses in various industries to illustrate the versatility of Emblem Vault. Industries include crowd funding, mass payments, finance, currency exchange, coupon clubs and more. Over the next few weeks and months we will be announcing some of the first projects we are partnering with on this front.
There is both a need for people to understand the technology we have created as well as a desire to build some of the exciting applications that the Emblem Platform enable. The Community path is a way for us and others to build use-cases, mini applications, experiment with new features and build integrations with the Emblem Platform that are not supported under the core Emblem Platform Services. This Community channel is where many exciting ideas around Emblem Vault will be realized.
The Emblem Mobile Wallet is nearing completion and I expect to begin rolling it out to the community over the next 2 weeks.
Within the mobile wallet, users will be able to participate in end to end encrypted discussions. There will be our official community rooms along with user initiated direct messages. I will be utilizing PubNub Chat Engine as the basis for this chat.
A common problem in chat systems is trust, telegram, twitter, slack have all been under heavy scrutiny over the past year as many of users have been scammed due to mostly non-existent identity verification. As a way to remedy this issue we have developed Emblem Identity Tokens. They work like this.
Within the mobile wallet, a user can choose to associate their wallet address with Telegram. They will do so by using a “Log-in using Telegram” button. The result of a successful login will issue a special identity token to that user’s wallet. This special token can’t be transferred out of a user’s wallet. These special tokens will show up in chat sessions and when using the user registry to choose users to interact with.
A user can authenticate with over 100 different services, collecting tokens along the way which add clout to this user.
No longer will you have to wonder if users are really who they say they are.
While thinking about use-cases for Emblem it quickly became apparent that creating an Emblem Vault and telling someone the deposit addresses is a great way to accept cryptocurrency as payment without worrying about complex integrations. This realization grew into a simple line of code that can be dropped onto a blogpost or webpage (much the same way as a PayPal buy now button)
Configure what crypto currencies you would like to receive and what action you would like performed upon order fulfillment and you are good to accept payments and automate order fulfillment. Perform token swaps, Accept donations, Sell goods and services and more.
We will be rolling out features early through the community path that are likely to be supported within the Core Platform Services. Examples of these early features include:
